These are delightful biscuits best enjoyed straight from the oven with a bit of butter.
2 cups flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup cold milk
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Cut butter into mixed flour, salt, and baking powder in a medium bowl until it resembles coarse crumb.
Add cheddar and mix well.
Make a well in the center and add milk.
Mix until combined. Do not over mix.
Turn out onto a floured surface and fold dough in half about ten times.
Roll out and cut into desired size with a biscuit cutter.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375 F for about 20 minutes or until tops are golden brown,
